Alice Master

Poet, brief story article writer, novelist, essayist, anthologist, instructor, editor, author, womanist and activist, Alice Malsenior Walker was born at your home on Feb 9, 1944, near Ward's Chapel, a neighboring community of Eatonton, Georgia. She is the 8th and previous child of Willie Lee Walker and Minnie Lou Tallulah Give Walker. In 1994, Master changed her middle brand to Tallulah-Kate, in honor of her maternal great-grandmother, the African-Cherokee ancestor Tallulah Calloway, along with Kate Nelson, her paternal grandmother. Like a self-described " daughter of the rural peasantry, ” Master grew up within a loving home in the years following the end of the 1930s. Though poor, the family members was full of kindness and perspective. By her father and mother and littermates, Walker discovered to benefit the beauty in nature. Her family likewise nurtured Walker's artistic goals, which included portrait and music along with writing.
